You keep your rights
Everything you publish on post-social remains yours. By default your work is published © all rights reserved: people can read it here, and nobody — including us — gains any right to reuse it beyond the minimum needed to run the service (see the operation license in the Terms of Service).
Choosing a license for a work
If you want your work to be reusable, you can choose a public license per work when it is published:
- © All rights reserved (the default) — read here; no third-party reuse.
- CC BY 4.0 — anyone may reuse it, with attribution to you.
- CC BY-NC 4.0 — reuse with attribution, non-commercial only.
- CC BY-SA 4.0 — reuse with attribution, derivatives must carry the same license.
- CC0 1.0 — a public-domain dedication: you waive your rights so the work belongs to everyone.
Creative Commons choices are irrevocable
A Creative Commons license or CC0 dedication cannot be taken back for copies already made. You can stop offering a work under an open license, but anyone who received it while the license was in effect keeps their rights forever. Choose the default © if you are unsure — you can always open a work up later; you can never fully close it again.
Public-domain works
Post-social also hosts classic public-domain texts (for example, books from Project Gutenberg). Those texts remain in the public domain and are labeled with their source.
Reporting infringement (DMCA)
If you believe work published here infringes your copyright, tell us. Include: (1) the work you believe is infringed, (2) the URL of the page here, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them.
Our process: we review each notice, remove or disable access to material that a valid notice covers, notify the contributor who published it, accept counter-notices, and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Registration of our designated DMCA agent with the U.S. Copyright Office is in progress; this page will carry the agent's contact details when complete.
